Anna Maria Island
Anna Maria Island can be found on the west coast of Florida just south of Bradenton and north of Sarasota. To the west of this barrier island is the Gulf of Mexico and to the east is Tampa Bay. Forbes picked Anna Maria as the third prettiest town in the country in 2013.
For the most part Anna Maria Island has escaped the high tourist concentration of other more popular destinations and retains a sense of residential community. The island is a great beach destination, offers good shopping and excellent seafood dining.
Birders will appreciate the fact that the entire island is considered a bird sanctuary. Sea turtles nest along the 7 miles of white sandy beaches from May through October.
Spend time in town or at the pier, fishing, manatee and dolphin watching, or just relax in this quiet "pretty" place.
