So you want to go birding in Florida?
So you want to go birding in Florida? Well you have come to the right place. Welcome to Telephoto Florida (TPF). We are proud to introduce you to the Sunshine State.
With each post, TPF will showcase an aspect Florida that makes the case why Florida is the number one wildlife-viewing destination in the United States. Be it birding trails, beaches at sunset, roller coasters or roadside attractions, TPF brings it to you up close and personal.
Here you will find hundreds of suggestions and thousands of photos for things to do in Florida. Some will be popular and obvious and others not so much.
The Telephoto Florida web site is laid out in essentially two sections, birding and non-birding. Hard core birders may want to consult the GFBWT Tour and follow along as we try to document all of the 515 Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail (GFBWT) sites. Others may want to choose The TPF Trail to discover Old Florida, alligators, waterfalls (yes we have them here) and other less bird driven locations.
The best way to navigate the TPF site is to locate a Base Camp City and customize from there according to taste and desire. Get oriented by visiting the Maps Page. Regular posts will highlight a variety of Florida things to do so sign up for automatic notifications.
While poking around the site, be sure to visit The Aviary, an ever expanding, bird photography collection conveniently sorted by taxonomy.
So, pack up the camera and pack up the kids. Come on down to Florida. We know you want to!
First up Lakeland, Florida, World Headquarters for Telephoto Florida, and a perfect base camp for much of what Central Florida has to offer.
