Red Bug Slough was a pleasant surprise for Telephoto Florida (TPF).  This small park in the City of Sarasota was wonderfully picturesque and perhaps a perfect picnic spot.

Well shaded trails lead to a lagoon where maybe you could sit quietly and reflect on the view.  If birding is your objective this site is known for migration fallouts and one can be nicely surprised on any given day. We were lucky enough to spy a pair of pileated woodpeckers (which may have been residents).

Red Bug Slough Preserve is located near Clark (Stickney Point) and Beneva Rd in Sarasota.  This site is worth a stop if in the Siesta Key or general Sarasota area
