Lake Parker – Lakeland
Lake Parker in Lakeland is the biggest and arguably the most picturesque of the city’s many lakes. No visit to Lakeland is complete with out at least a drive along West Lake Parker Drive.
There is something for everyone here. The park boasts six soccer fields, two tennis courts, three sand volleyball courts, a roller hockey rink, shuffleboard courts, lawn bowling, two children’s play grounds, a public boat launch, jogging and bicycle paths with exercise stops along the way, 3 picnic pavilions available for public use, numerous picnic tables with grills for barbeque, and if that is not enough, pets are welcome (on a leash).
As a birding site Lake Parker is highly under estimated. A casual stroll along the shoreline within the park can yield a plethora of birds from osprey, purple gallinule, the always present boat-tailed grackle, blackbirds, anhinga, cormorants, herons, egrets and song birds of all types. Telephoto Florida names this park as one of the best birding locations in the city.
