Joe Overstreet Landing

Joe Overstreet Landing is a nice driving trail, although somewhat out of the way. We at Telephoto Florida (TPF) have always found it worth the effort.  It is said that the area has highest concentration of nesting bald eagles in the lower 48 states. We have never been disappointed, sighting numerous eagles in flight. The neighboring park, Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area, can yield plenty of nesting juveniles.

Joe Overstreet Road is a 5.4 mile trek along a dirt road, bordered by pastures and sod farms. This is central Florida prairie country. As you drive feel free to pull over anytime to watch for Sandhill Cranes, Wild Turkeys, Bald Eagles and Crested Caracaras. The fence posts often have Eastern Meadowlarks, Loggerhead Shrikes, and Warblers.
