Myakka River State Park
Myakka River State Park is the largest state park in Florida. It can be found 9 miles east of Sarasota off SR-72.
This park is worth the visit just for the canopy walk alone. Although we did not spy any birds on the cold December day of our visit, the view from high atop the tree line made us feel like birds.
This park offers numerous recreational activities. Bike, kayak, canoe, or hike the park. Bring your horse. Primitive camping is available as well as a few cabins for rent.
