Desert Inn at Yeehaw Junction
Yeehaw Junction sits at the intersections US 441/SR 15, SR 60 and Florida's Turnpike (SR 91) south of Orlando and west of Vero Beach. History tells that the town’s original name was "Jackass Junction" or "Jackass Crossing". As the only watering hole (and brothel) in the area, cowboys and Indians, travelers and cattlemen all frequented The Desert Inn in the 20’s and 30’s.
Telephoto Florida (TPF) is blessed to be able to travel the state of Florida. Sometimes we take it for granted, passing the same landmarks time and time again, saying to ourselves “Self - we have to stop in there some time” and we never do.
Such is the case with abandoned looking Desert Inn at Yeehaw Junction. Thankfully we listened to our inner self and actually made the stop. Thankfully too, we were hungry and the sign said “try the burger” so we did.
