Bayou Drive and Bayport Park is west of Weeki Wachee and is a worthwhile drive-thru if you are in the area

Take Cortez Blvd west to the Gulf of Mexico.  Before Pine Island, turn south on Bayou Drive.  This one lane road winds for a couple miles through a picturesque section of salt marsh. Look for osprey, Sandhill Cranes and other wading shorebirds.

When you arrive at the south end of Bayou Drive turn right to visit Bayport Park. This is a small Park which is basically a boat launch and fishing pier. We saw Sandhill cranes and numerous shorebirds and gulls. This is not a park to spend an entire day at but if you are in the area stop in and see what you can see.

Locals say this is a great spot to watch the sunset. The site has picnic tables, pavilions, barbecue grills, a handicap accessible boardwalk with panoramic views.

Bayport Park can be found at 4140 Cortez Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34607.  The park and drive are open 24 hours per day.  Free admission.
