There is a wide variety of other attractions other around Sarasota as well.
Hop over to the Telephoto Florida GFBWT top see some amazing birding sites. Watch for TPF reports coming soon on these and other exciting things to do in the Sarasota area.
For birders, Red Bug Slough Preserve is worth a visit during migration for possible fallouts
The Sarasota area serves as great base camp city for Central West Coast Florida, that is, if you like white sand beaches, blue skies, palm trees, ocean breezes, fine dining, art, culture, birding, and golf. Within a few minutes drive, there are three key sites worth a visit - Siesta, Longboat and Lido Keys.
If you have a week to spend in the area, you can spend it seeing all three. If you only have day, TPF feels sorry for you. Browse though the TPF Sarasota Trail and see if we can help make up your mind.
Siesta Key to Sarasota's south, boasts of having the number one beach in the USA. After a recent assignment there, Telephoto Florida (TPF) can easily see why they can that claim.
Longboat Key is mostly resort and residential. Here you will find Longboat Key Club, a fine resort with wonderful beach and lagoon access.
The smallest and by far the most commercial of the three keys is Lido Key. Here St Armand's Circle, a vibrant area between Lido and Longboat Key, is to shopping what Siesta Key is to beach.
Be sure to check out the Greek and Roman statuary that graces St Armand's Circle.
